One by one leaving like a breeze, leaving behind what, but a name of shame and debates of heaven or hell. Last of the series, hung himself feet’s above the ground at the airport tower. What were the troubles that burdened him so much, what was going through his mind when he made the final decision?

The decision to commit suicide, I like calling it the ultimate decision for two reasons. One; the decision to commit suicide is made when the person feels that there is no alternative, no other solutions, the only way is to die and leave behind all the troubles and burdens forever. Two; when a person makes the decision and act upon it, there is no turning back, there is no looking back. It’s over forever.

But whenever a person commits suicide, I can’t help, but think, why! Why was that decision made, what issues in life was so horrible that the person had to reach the point of no return.

Sometimes, it is personal matters, on other occasions it is matters related to acceptance, and there could be so many reasons.

And many of the people do understand such. Unfortunately the very people who understand the meaning of stress, depression, trouble, and acceptance are the very people who might be the next victim of suicide.
The calmness on one’s face, the sweet smile and the laughter’s might just be the mask that covers a life of painfulness.

Parents got to accept their children as who they are, mothers need to be more loving and caring, fathers need to be exemplary contrast to a negative influence.

A society where everything and anything could be shared needs to be created. The society needs to accept its entire people whoever they might be, whatever their belief is.

Feinberg, ‘Psychological Egoism’

Essa Khan, 51, discovered the money in $100 notes left in the room of a Japanese worker at the Serena Hotel in Gilgit.

Mr Khan, who earns about 21,000 rupees ($235; £153) a month, says he never considered keeping the money.

He has been invited to receive an award from a state governor for his honesty.

“My duty with the hotel and my family upbringing teaches me nothing else,” he said.

“Times are hard for everyone, but that doesn’t mean we should start stealing and taking things which do not belong to us.”

The father-of-five says he hopes the incident will help portray his country in a good light.

The Pakistani government has been riddled with accusations of corruption.

“I want people around the world to know that there are many good people in Pakistan – everybody is not a terrorist here.”

Hotel manager Rajid Uddin told the BBC there had been similar instances where lost items had been returned, but none “on this magnitude”.

He said the guest had been relieved when the cash was found.

“He was naturally very worried as he wasn’t able to figure out where he had lost the money,” he said.

Mr Khan said he had already received an award from the hotel, and that Salman Taseer, the governor of Punjab, had congratulated him and invited him to Lahore for a ceremony.

While some refer to Paul as psychic, I bet if it were in a rural region of India, the people there would already be prostrating to it believing it as a god. A creature who does not understand what football is, what the world cup is, what it means to play football, how could it predict a score while the most intelligent humans are unable to predict scores?

For me accepting that this octopus is somewhat psychic and if its actions are phenomenal seems a bit bogus. Rather, I wonder if there is a science that could explain this psychic octopus.

Every time I hear such stories, or whenever I learn about such events, the first thing that comes to my mind is Noetics. The word noetic, as described on the website of the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS), “comes from the ancient Greek nous, for which there is no exact equivalent in English. It refers to ‘inner knowing’, a kind of intuitive consciousness – direct and immediate access to knowledge beyond what is available to our normal senses and the power of reason.”

And as per described on the website of IONS, noetic sciences are “explorations into the nature of potentials of consciousness using multiple ways of knowing – including intuition, feeling, reason, and the senses. Noetic sciences explore the ‘inner cosmos’ of the mind (consciousness, soul, spirit) and how it relates to the ‘outer cosmos’ of the physical world.”

In other words, noetic sciences explain how a thought (the inner cosmos of the mind) could have an impact on the physical world (the outer cosmos).  The noetic science is about the powers of the human mind, spirit and the soul. As per noetic science the basis of every physical event starts within our minds. Whether we would like to purchase a book, read a book or write a book, or create something, or even if we want to lift our hands, the first step to achieve this physical actions foundation is laid within our own minds. That is the moment that we intend to do something!

And it is the power of this intention that leads us to create a physical happening. And because the intentions and the thoughts have an actual physical weight that could be measured, the intensity of this weight of thoughts could have an actual impact on the physical world. For instance, when many people concentrate on the same thing, the weight of thoughts increases the probability that it would become increases. This is the science that explains ‘supernatural’ events such as healing, telepathic visions etc.

Moving back to the octopus, could noetic science be the truth behind Paul’s successful predictions? The World Cup is an event that gathers the concentration of the whole world. The prayers, the thoughts, the thinking of the people could have an immense effect on the physical world as several people would be concentrating on the same thing at the same period of time. Thus, with all this concentration of the millions of people, the octopus could actually move towards the glass box with the flag of the team that most of the people wish would win.

A replica World Cup trophy seized by anti-drugs police in Colombia is made out of cocaine, lab tests have confirmed.

The 36cm (14in) statue was found in a delivery crate at Bogota airport.

The crate was in an airmail warehouse waiting to be sent to an address in Spain, airport anti-drug chief Jose Piedrahita said.

In another development, a submarine built by drug-traffickers was found in Ecuador before its maiden voyage.

The World Cup replica was made up of 11kg (24 lb) of the drug, mixed with acetone or gasoline to make it mouldable.

The gold-painted statue was found on a routine sweep of the airport on Friday, authorities said.

The Ecuadorian submarine, capable of carrying tonnes of cocaine, was discovered in a river near the border with Colombia, the US Drug Enforcement Agency said.

The camouflaged 31m- (100 ft-) long vessel has a conning tower, periscope and air-conditioning system.

One man was arrested.

Researchers at the University of California-Berkeley said their comparison of the genomes of ethnic Tibetan and Han Chinese could help scientists understand how the body deals with decreased oxygen and diseases associated with oxygen deprivation in the womb, according to a news release on the university’s website.

The evolutionary biologists say the results of their study, which compares the genomes of 50 Tibetans and 40 Han Chinese, shows that Tibetans rapidly developed a unique ability to survive in altitudes above 13,000 feet, where oxygen levels are about 40 percent lower than at sea level.

The study said that Tibetans evolved to adapt to high altitudes after splitting off from the Han about 2,750 years ago.

The study identified more than 30 genes with DNA mutations that have become more prevalent in Tibetans than Han Chinese, nearly half of which are related to how the body uses oxygen.

“For such a very strong change, a lot of people would have had to die simply due to the fact that they had the wrong version of a gene,” said Rasmus Nielsen, a professor of integrative biology at Berkeley who led the statistical analysis.

And the government has tried its best to cooperate and coordinate with the judicial and the legislative powers. Unfortunately, the aim of the Rayyithunge Majlis been to take all the three powers into their hands had forced the government to make the unavoidable decisions.

What the opposition leaders did not realize is that there is just more than local politics acting here in the Maldives. In one of my earlier writings, ‘Who is ruling the Maldives?’ I have elaborated on one of the conspiracy theories about the new Maldivian government and the New World Order. What I have written in that article, be a conspiracy or a fact, The New World Order is no conspiracy and it indeed is a fact.

“In a very simple perspective, the N.W.O is a ‘concept’ as well a belief that the world will be under single power, single governance before the End Time.” Or it is a concept of establishing world peace and spreading democracy throughout the world. The conspiracies are about the driving forces behind the New World Order concept. While some claim it is a satanic force driving the N.W.O others claim that it is sincerity and love that is trying to establish the New World Order. Whatever it is, and whatever groups are behind this, be it the illuminati, mansons, lucifarians, roths childs etc, what we ought to understand is that the world is changing, or rather the world is moving towards an immense change.

The Lucifarians are waiting for the arrival of Lucifer, Muslims and Christians waiting for Antichrist (Dajjal) and second coming of Jesus, another waiting for the revelation of the hidden knowledge’s which is been protected by secret societies for ages, another waiting for human to reach immortality, so on and so forth.

And for this change to arrive it is a believed common ground that the New World Order be established. The Maldives is no exception in this phenomenon.  Perhaps, this exactly is what the opposition is unable to digest. There are reasons why the British is so much interested in establishing this democracy at the Maldives. No matter how much the opposition keeps on distressing the government, there is no way the opposition could overthrow the government.

The ‘external forces’ will keep on advising the government of the actions that needs to be taken. If the government will have to lock all the opposition members behind bars, that will also be done. And if that is not enough, the ‘external forces’ themselves will play direct roles to uphold this government. Whatever barricades and obstacles there are, they will be crushed and destroyed.

The JonBenét case remains one of the most high-profile unsolved murder cases in the US. The six year old was discovered dead in the basement of her parent’s house in Boulder Colorado in 1996, apparently strangled with a garrote made from a length of cord and the broken handle of a paintbrush.

The case initially focused on Ramsey’s parents as the murder suspects, attracting extensive media coverage, which often remarked on her participation in child beauty pageants.

Karr, who was on the run in Thailand after being charged in the US for possession of child pornography, confessed to the killing in 2006 and was extradited to the US to await trial. He was eventually acquitted because his DNA did not match that discovered on Ramsay’s body. The five charges of possession of child pornography were also dropped after investigators reportedly lost the computer they seized from him in 2001, containing the images.

Boulder police reopened the case February 2009, although the case remains unsolved despite the unmatched DNA evidence.

Karr disappeared from the public stage and reportedly began working as a teacher in countries across Europe and Asia. He arrived in the Maldives on January 20 last year as a woman, ‘Alexis Valoran Reich’, and was employed at Billabong school as a preschool and grade one English teacher by then-Principal Kevin Dillow.

Karr/Reich left the school in June after “personal differences” with Dillow, explained Billabong board member Ahmed Adhly Rasheed.

“Reich was employed through a reputable English teacher recruitment agency, which provided us a [clean] Seattle City police report in her name,” Rasheed said.

“We did several checks – the immigration check when [the staff member] enters the country, the check when the work permit issued, and we checked the referral letters from places where he had worked before. We also do our own checks, and were in the process of doing that when Alexis left. He arrived on January 20 and left four and a half months later.”

The connection between Karr and Reich only became public knowledge in March-May 2010, following news reports in the US on his sex change that led to an update of Karr’s entry on Wikipedia.

The photo of Reich in Billabong’s personnel file is unmistakably a feminine likeness of Karr, and her passport details – birthdate December 11, 1964, issued December 2008 in her hometown of Georgia – match Karr’s details exactly.

“We had the police in the school this morning asking where this person was,” Rasheed said, emphasising that Reich had left the school over a year ago, destination unknown.

During her time at the Billabong there were no allegations made against him or any evidence of impropriety, Rasheed said. Reich was by all accounts an excellent teacher – “he was in fact the most popular teacher at the school.”

“He left because of a conflict with the principal Kevin. I don’t mean to defend this guy, but he was actually very popular among the parents. When he left and parents found out it was to do with a conflict with management, some parents approached us and expressed disappointment that he was leaving, and desire that he [remain at the school].”

A Billabong teacher who worked alongside Reich concurred: “Sure he was a bit strange, but he was really good with all the kids. They all liked him – there was no seediness,” the teacher said. “I think he pulled a runner because he wasn’t enjoying the work. He used to complain, but just about normal work things. There were no issues.”

Rasheed said the school received no allegations about Reich while he was working at the school.

“Nothing of any concern happened while he was here – there were no allegations,” Rasheed said. “Our concern is the talk around town that this is somebody who is still working at the school.”

Because her passport identified she was a woman – it had been issued the month before she arrived – Billabong was officially unaware that Reich was actually a man.

“We were unaware of any such thing, [although] he spoke with a deep voice. I don’t know the extent of his sex change operation,” Rasheed said.

Billabong’s unwitting employment of an infamous transsexual teacher acquitted of murdering a six year old beauty queen – a saga somewhat at odds with the conservative nature of modern Maldivian society – together with theallegations of child abuse facing the (former) Principal of the Maldives’ other private school, Lale Youth International – has raised questions among parents and the Education Ministry as to the efficacy of the country’s vetting procedures.

In a letter to Minivan News, concerned parent Muzaffar Naeem said that while he “was relieved that Mr Alexis Reich no longer works at the school”, he questioned the Education Ministry’s guidelines on the employment teachers, and whether the rules were as stringent for privately-owned schools as they were for government institutions.

Deputy Education Minister Shifa Mohamed said the same proceedures were required to be in place at private schools as those in government-owned schools.

“The Ministry expects all schools to follow the same proceedures and obtain police clearance before employing teachers,” she said. “It is also the responsibility of each school to take the initiative and check that teachers are of good quality.”

Rasheed reiterated that the identity of Alexis Reich was only revealed a month ago: “we followed our proceedures but of course in this case there was no connection between the two individuals.”

Current Principal of Billabong David Key, who took over from Dillow in November, observed that Reich’s Seattle City police record would have been clear if his history of charges was kept in another US county.

“It’s similar if you ask the London Metropolitan police for a police record check – they won’t check the rest of the country,” said Key.

“This school is putting in proceedures that are stock standard in every international school in the world – get records, references, call referees first, all these kind of things. Police records should not only come from the country where they were born, but should come country the person was last living in. This is very important – you can have a teacher who has worked for five years in Thailand but hands in a UK police report. They been in Thailand last five years, how do we not know anything [happened]?”

Most important, Key said, was the need for schools to interview teachers “face to face, person to person.”

“I think we need to actually meet people, because that gives you a better idea of nature of a person than Skype or a phone call. The teachers I would like to employ [at Billabong] are people I know would fit into this society and have an agreement with the way of life here – rather than necessarily having the best educational qualifications. Those are important, but it’s more important that the teachers we get fit into the Islamic culture here and the nature of the Maldives.”
