2010 in a glance

Leaks of top US secrets by a ‘geek’, to times person of the year been a ‘geek’, we could safely assume that 2010 itself has been a ‘geeky’ year.

The worst environmental disasters in ages, Gulf oil spill, Haitian earthquake, financial crisis, Pakistani Floods, Icelandic volcano, Snowmageddon – we ought to accept that 2010 has been much of a disaster.

And at a more personal level, 2010 only is a reflection of what the world has been – disastrous! Except in a few things 2010 went down the drain and there certainly is nothing to brag about or to be proud of!

How fragile the world is and how much of damages it endured is what life has been, a year of disappointments. Ups, downs, downs and further downs! It is a un-estimate-able ratio – too many downs and only a few ups. And of course, life is not fair – is life ever meant to be fair is a question we should never ask!

“To his fans, Julian Assange is a valiant campaigner for truth. To his critics, though, he is a publicity-seeker who has endangered lives by putting a mass of sensitive information into the public domain”, and whose view is fair is a question neither you nor we could answer. We see what we want to see, our eyes are blinded by our beliefs. Tell us; what is fair when there are kids out there craving for a single meal a day while we consume three regular meals a day with additional several coffees – day and night!

It sometimes even feels like a sin to ignore all this; to know the sufferings of others, yet to complain about a few sufferings that we go through. Their sufferings are not what they gained, was it? Is it nature’s way of treating them? Our suffering is what we chose. We did things; we did this and that to garner wrath and anger, to gain pain and sufferings, to live the life that we live. While we have good food at disposal we choose to eat junk and become fat! But NO! They do not have anything; nature did not provide them with any good but hunger alone!

Nevertheless, with all the events that took place around the globe, within the nation, in the house, over social networks, via texts, emails, over coffees and elsewhere, 2010 has been one of the most ‘lessonful’ years as well. We have had sweetness in our lives. We have had beauties, goods and happiness. But with words that are supposed to be shown rather than spoken, and with actions that were supposed to be hidden, we ruined several of the goodness. For some reason many of the good things of 2010 were more like dreams; dreams of realizations and understanding. Dreams that forced us to wake up and open our eyes to see what the reality is.

Now that, we might consider the bright side of 2010! If everything went so perfect and the way we wanted it to be, there is no excitement – perhaps not this excitement that we are ‘enjoying’ right now? But with disasters, damages, pain and sufferings comes lessons of personal security, maturity, tolerance, choices – so on and so forth.

And with so much of realizations, enlightenment, and understandings, 2010 would be listed a lesson to mold a better 2011, we sincerely so hope.

And if we are to list, even in a very general perspective, what we learned and what we asked ourselves in 2010, the list would go a distance of ‘to the moon and back’ we assume. Yet, let’s see if we could at least list a few of them:

- the person who seems to be the best, still have got a freak within
- what you see is not what it is
- good ethical values and been the nice person are listed below certain other values that has got no moral values?
- patience is of utmost importance
- never dive into the deep before learning the shallow
- a promise consists of words that could be easily scrambled, jumbled and therefore its meaning easily lost
- words considered true today could be false tomorrow
- if you have got a closet, there sure is a skeleton in it?
- when you look back, you might have difficulties moving forward
- second chances are not a good idea?
- speak your heart, no matter what
- say what you have to say – loud and crystal clear
- trying to make another realize his/her ‘condition’ is a difficult task
- feelings vanish, but not memories
- silence could cause a lot more damage than meant to be
- you are what you choose to be
- if you want to change, you can

With that let us conclude 2010 and start our journey into 2011, hoping that it would be far better and prosperous than 2010 – Aloha 2011 :)
