So we have been hearing a lot of woofs and whoops here and there about mixing girls and boys, and I’ve got to say, mixing boys and girls is a real bad idea. When you mix boys and girls what do you get? BORLS? Ok, that did not make much sense, but in the context that the ministry of education is speaking, I feel that it is already too late for the idea to be implemented. But then again, why is it ever so loud the voices of those who have reservations regarding the matter? And why is the ministry of education so silent?
A check on who woofs
Those who are raising their voices against boys and girls studying together at Ameeniya and Majeedhiya have no real reasons to go against it. As I see it, these people who are making the noises are a group who seeks attention and love to be on the media. Or what other reason has they got?
A girl got pregnant? Yes, while at CHSE a girl got pregnant. But could you, with all might, say that it is the result of CHSE been a mixed-gender school? Or could it in reality be the result of several other social issues that we have in this so called paradise?
So the girl got pregnant, the solution is to make all schools single-gender schools. And I start wondering, how many females get pregnant throughout the Maldives every year out of marriage. Many! Now is that the result of males and females living together in islands? Well, how about divide Maldives into two halves, one for the males and other for the females. And that is exactly why I see no actual religious issues in this crisis. We are here on this earth together, to live together!
Secondly, during the protest I saw, or was it real? That there were some women amongst the men raising their voice against making Ameeniya and Majeedhiya mixed gender schools? So why get mixed to raise voice against mixing? It is all drama! Or is it because the protest was monitored and so there will be no illegal non-religious acts that would happen? Dear people, so are the schools! Open your eyes!
Where are the people who want this to happen?
I believe there are so many parents, teachers, leaders and citizens who actually want this to happen. There are so many people who understand the benefits that would result in a better education system. But why do we not hear their voices? Are they going to sit back and let a group of fanatics ruin the future of this country? Or are they afraid that they might get a name, ‘non-religious’ ‘hell-deserving’ etc etc?
And what about the hundreds of gender mixed schools with in Male’ and the rest of the Maldives. Did I ever hear any of these woofers speak about those schools before? Did they propose any ideas to make those schools single-gender? So the wrath comes only upon Ameeniya and Majeediya? Is it?
Really, people have got to stand up, raise their voices for the betterment of this country. Because of a few people who have got loud voices and high tempers, this country is going down a path of darkness!
And Dr.Lutfi!
How capable is the minister of education Dr.Lutfi. I think the ideas proposed by the minister are well planned and would certainly benefit this country. But an idea that exists only as an idea is as useless as a billions dollars in the trash!
Reminds me of that quote from Albert Einstein, “If at first, the idea is not absurd, then there is no hope for it” and Elbert Hubbard, “An idea that is not dangerous is unworthy to be called an idea at all”. And so the important thing is to implement the ideas no matter how dangerous or absurd it might sound.
So how capable is the ministey of education Dr.Lutfi? I think I would wait a bit longer to answer that question. See how things go. Let them win and leave the great ideas, Dr.Lutfi is incapable, implement the ideas, and make this country a better place, a great and capable minister!

what to say? this waay o that way all hypocrites!
now we can fear the worst. the goddamn terrorists are going to rule maldives and we all have to grow beards, wear short trousers and be gay!
not exactly, its only a matter of your personality and how you believe……..
I had the misfortune of working with Mr. M. Lutfi … he may be a good man … but he is also an ass !!!
But i will tell you that this is one of the best things he is fighting for …
I think its a great idea !!!
Shortage of teachers, limited space, scarcity of available resources means it is not only impractical but technically impossible to allocate and divide resources among girls and boys in a fair fashion …
co-education is the future … how long can we hold off without it …
Also, c-education has other benefits
So, a girl got knocked up when in CHSE, when did this happen ???
Where were her brains ??? and how do we know it happen with a boy who was also in CHSE ???
If that really did happen, I blame CHSE for that, they should up their standards for entry requirement to guys and gals who have a brain and know how to use a condom
Coeducation: I believe this is not the issue, the fanatics really wants’ to have another Kandahar in our country.
I really do not understand why; when the fanatics won’t reason out, they always refer to western societies instead of Afghanistan, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
The fanatics are so ignorant that they have no idea the molding children’s character and behaviors depend hugely on parents and the family. May Maldivians believes that here in Maldives there no family values.
When the kids return from school they watch Hindi movies. These movies show valance and sex; that are vulgar and it is not proper to see for normal people to see.
I believe that Dr. Luthufee is trying to introduce a modern education system in our country with very limited resources and we should support him to achieve his goals.
The few people who are protesting against coeducation are the Mulas who have extremist ideologies and we should not allow them to dominate our education system.
