If they (sheikhs) can give their own personal opinion in religious stuffs in the name of analogy and consensus, Why not us? They are also fallible human beings, not angels or messengers of God.

I don't see any sensible reason why should we believe in Consensus (Ijma) and Analogy (Qiyas). Sorry to say, but I cannot comply with any shits from anyone, when it is about religion.

Look Quran clearly states that If we go on following Quran and Prophets Sunnah, there is no way to say that, we are in the path of wrong doers.

In fact, I believe the ones, who claims Ijma and Qiyas to be a superior
source of Islamic Shari'ah is just denying the fact that Quran and Sunnah is complete.

Agree with Yameen.

We don't need these so-called self-proclaimed 'sheikhs' and 'scholars'. If you have a good translation of the Quran, you are your own master.

These people go on TV just to get attention and respect and reverie from the public because I deeply suspect they grew up without getting the necessary attention during childhood and a failure to create a self-identity during teenage.

I actually feel sorry for these guys but it's up to them to leave the past behind and start actually building a good life for themselves rather than trying to get 'credibility' and 'endorsement' by becoming an Islamic "scholar" overnight after some short-term or long-term course in some obscure madrassa in some extremist strong hold in Pakistan or Afghanistan.

There are so many things we can do even if we start now: so many creative things and honest hard work by which we can educate ourselves, create a name for ourselves, and create a self-identity too. There are so many Faculties which offer various kinds of training and professions.

But I guess some extremists just want an "easy way out" or "short cut" by becoming an Islamic "scholar."

When we think about it, Allah appointed Prophet Mohamed to deliver us the Message (The Quran) and since the Prophet has already completed that Mission (the delivery of the Quran to us), I wonder why we have a need for more so-called "scholars" and "sheikhs"? This should be reason enough for any rational-thinking person to doubt the sincerity of these self-proclaimed "scholars."

Well, they are not helping the situation at all. They are only creating confusion in people's minds about Islam. I'm sure Allah won't be happy with it however well-meaning these "sheikhs" are. If anybody wants to do something good for a Muslim brother or Muslim sister, please buy him or her a good English or Dhivehi translation of the Quran and at the same time warn them not to accept anything that is suspiciously inserted in 'brackets' which are actually the translator or interpreter's own thoughts and not something accredited by Allah or Prophet Mohamed.

If our TV and radio channels have to run religious programs, it should only be by bringing about the Quran's (English/Dhivehi) translation to audiences.

We need to stop programs where "sheikhs" and "scholars" appear giving sermons and "fatwas" and "advice." The government should actually start a student loan program for the public whereby these "sheikhs" and "scholars" can actually get funds to study and do some useful and creative work rather than trying to explain the Quran for us which is not their job!

Peace.

They're all entertainers and politicians with an agenda of their own. Don't listen to any of them.

Cut the middle-man... do research of your own from books and through various translations freely available on the internet.

Too many people consider the so called 'sheikhs' to be prophets. Islam has no clergy. Be your own teacher and use your own brain.

Cheers.

The scholars or Sheikh, whoever it maybe, talking about Islam is a human being. Thus he would definitely make mistakes, he is neither a Prophet of GOD. so lets say we have lots which with no controversies. Follow that. five pillars in Islam; the path to heaven.
