Sheikh Shaheem Ali Saeed & Dr.Abdul Majeed Abdul Bari; hypocrites?
With a new government, new hopes and new thinking, everything is going towards a positive direction. Towards Aneh Dhivehi Raajje. But the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, seems to be trying to change everything the way they want. At occasions sheikhs of the Islamic Ministry have said with evidence from Hadith that shaving or even shortening the beard is Haram. Or taking photographs of people as well as drawing is Haram. Importing, selling and consuming alcohol is Haram. And helping making such deals possible is also Haram.
Today, when they are awarded with ministerial positions their actions are changing. What has happened to the very long beard Dr.Majeed once had? I would like to hear him answer the question with evidence from Quran and Hadith. Why do we see photographs of these sheikhs all over and every where? Why do they pose to be pictured? Could they explain this with evidence from Quran and Hadith? Why do some of them own companies that supply products to tourist resorts? Under which Islamic rulings did such businesses became legal? Please explain o you sheikhs!
And the banning of certain websites, particularly the raajjeislam.com website, what is the purpose? Protecting Islam, protecting the people of Maldives from viewing deviating materials? Or is it perhaps to protect themselves? As speculated by different media sources, the actual reason behind the banning of raajjeislam.com could be the result of it publishing material against Sheikh Shaheem! Or for publishing truths about Shaheem Ali Saeed that he did not want the people to know? I wonder when these sheikhs will answer these questions!
For me it seems that Dr.Majeed and Shaheem are changing their fatwa’s to suite their needs. No matter how affectionate and touching their Friday sermons are, gradually the hidden hypocrisy within these sheikhs are emerging. And the question that I ask myself every day is, “what is the truth? How could these sheikhs be trusted on Islamic rulings and teachings?” It is obvious that what they speak is their own ideology and their own beliefs and not necessarily Islamic teachings. And this selfishness of sheikhs only results in the deceiving and confusing of people. These are the actual reasons behind all the religious confusion and conflicts. These sheikhs are the ones who make people doubtful and make people drift away from religion.

The Prophet actually warned that during the Last Days before Judgment Day, these type of hypocrites (munaafigun) will surface. He had said that people who have learned Islam but twist everything so that it will sow discord and harmony among the Ummah and create hatred in the hearts of Muslims towards Islam will come. It is these kind of hypocrites that the Prophet was talking about. Hypocrites pretending to be Muslims so that they can, without anybody suspecting it, can destroy Islam and Muslims.
well said Hilath. Islamic Ministry is now trying to make it seem to everyone that Islam is a curse, so that hey will destroy each other. We should let them dissolve themselves.

‘O man what has turned you away from your Lord Most Gracious’ (Holy Quran). Different people have different reasons for turning away from Islam, Allaah and His Messenger. The real question we need to ask ourselves is are we turning, returning, repenting to our Lord, or are we turning away. If we are turning away, then what are the reasons that motovate this behaviour, and try to change this condition.
I am not perfect, you are not perfect and yes, Shaheem and Dr. Majeed are not perfect religious models. We have not been ben sent as watchers or guardians over them. And it is not our role to categorise people to hypocrites fantics or extremists. Our more important role is to keep ourselves on the path of righteousness, and if we do stray, to keep returning to the right path until our hearts our firmly established on the truth.
we have the holy Quran and the Sunnah as beacons to show the truth.
