There next step is the purchase of a 75 seat turboprop plane. This was initially planned to be carried out this year but due to the world financial situation this is more like to be undertaken in 2010. So even in the case they acquire the 75 seater it would be safe to say for sure that they wont think of flying to Malaysia in a 75 seat turboprop. This plane was intended for the additional Indian destinations. At the same time it is highly satisfying if within mid 2010 or so IAS could acquire a Airbus 319 or 320 and start operating on routes such as Malaysia. But for this to happen, in my opinion, we need additional cash injection to the company through additional govt investment or private company investments or an IPO. Either way any step the company takes should be carefully evaluated and analyzed to ensure past mistakes arent repeated. It is also recommended to hire a person with experience in international airline operations as the CEO to oversea the journey of expanding Maldivian internationally.
