first of all, the article was great......
to all against ANNI, i ask you if you can justify clearly why???? some how i doubt if you can..the only reasons i can think of is that some of you has ties with the dictator..or simply becuase you don't know any better...probably you are not even familiar with basic political concepts, if so, you are certainly among the incapable or should i say crippled citizenry. also those who think it requires one to have a doctorate to run the country or lead the people..........did gandhi have one? did mandela? did martin luther king? jefferson? washington? lets look at today...does bush have one? obama? clinton? blair? does anyone? ...how come all those rocket scientists and doctors and professors in america, never run for for president? simply because they are not leaders..they would do better off inventing or making bombs heh heh, or teaching in universities, writing books etc.etc....

to run a country we need someone who can lead us, i am not saying education is not necessary. just that it shouldn't be the measure.we should not judge one's ability to lead, based on educational achievement.moreover it should be based on action. and i believe Anni is that leader.the reason why you can see more political leaders today is Anni.he is our savior.

to shakewellbeforeuse....your very first point was "maldivians are stupid",yet you end your comment writing.... "if anybody thinks that the 40% who voted for Golhaa are stupid, there really is a serious problem" are you talking about yourself?? you are not making any sense!!!but don't worry i don't expect you to..
its one thing for you to be dumb and ignorant but your pathetic attempt to promote the dictator is an insult to everyone with a functioning brain. do everyone a favor and keep your advice to yourself..its no good in the rational world.......

I never said Hassan or Qasim is better then Anni. What I said is that some might see Hassan or Qasim better then Anni. Anyhow, that is the previous round of voting. This time they are all together, independent of a supporter of Hassan or Qasim or Ibra, there is no harm in voting Anni, because they are a team now.
And Anni can not step down, because if he does, then automatically Maumoon would be elected as the president. I assume, the opposition did the best thing by uniting together!
ANd like I mentioned before, a vote for Anni, is also a vote for Hassan, Qasim, Ibra... and most importantly it is also a vote for "wathan edhey gothah"

@thadu
Your line of thinking is based on the ASSUMPTION that 60% who voted for the candidates other than Maumoon, will not vote for Maumoon over Anni. This is an assumption erroneous and false. Surely, there will be people who voted to Dr Hassan who will compare Anni with Maumoon and will opt to vote for Maumoon. And likewise with the Gasim voters. the common folks, the voters who passionately follows Hassan, Ibra or Gasim voted for their choice kos they wanted their choice of candidate as President. They knows the difference that exists between each and Anni.

Also however fanciful it sounds, a vote to Anni will not be a vote to Hassan or Gasim or Ibra..for obvious reasons if you just think with your mind for one second.

From 6 contestants 40% voted for gayyoom and others got a pitifully low percentage compared even with the 40%. Anni got only 25%. Simply put 40% preferred Maumoon over the rest of candidates. 25% preferred Anni over the rest of candidates and etc..the statistic shows nothing more, nothing less.

If your argument hold valid, what is the purpose of all this watan edheygothah campaigns with all the high expenses..they now have a comfortable 60%. NO NOT.. The truth is opposition is still unsure. All the recklessness from Anni..all the pleading (yes..aadheys) from Gasim.. shows this. This is the truth.
The 60% decided against Maumoon talk is just political rhetoric and nonsense. Simply put, nobody decided against anybody in this election. Everybody voted FOR somebody.

btw, i like your blog. But it would be more nice and professional if you dont use derogatory names, even to Maumoon ( obviously someone you dont like).

Dear winner,
Ask yourself why the Maldivian people were divided in picking a candidate in the first round. Here,....made easy for you.
1- Maldivians were stupid.
2-Maldivians just wanted to play a game and spend some money by going to a second round
3- 40 % of maldivians were stupid.
4-The so called unity was never understood by the leaders who joined MDP after the failure of the first round.
6-Anni could not persuade them to help him at that time and greed took over.
7-Nobody believed in Anni...not even Ibra.

Now about the 60 and 40%. The matter of the fact is that every one who voted wanted a change including the 40% who voted for your Golhaa.
The difference my dear is, that they wanted a change through Golhaa
and about 25% wanted the change through Anni. Is this hard to understand?
And if anybody thinks that the 40% who voted for Golhaa are stupid, there really is a serious problem.....IN DEMOCRACY
