Provisional results; a shame to Golhaa

Golhaa, the person who got above 90% in the past six terms, was able to secure only 40.6% of votes. If Golhaa actually had a 90% support there is no way that would come down to a 40% today. And I doubt that he actually acquired this 40% without any rigging. Anyhow the important thing is that we still have a chance to get rid of the Golhaa, thank God!

There is no point of talking about this, yet if the opposition candidates had citizens as their first interest they would have done better then this. It is their selfishness and their desire to be on the top job that opened possibilities for a second round of voting; otherwise we could have easily ousted the dictator once and for all!

Congratulations to Anni for that he was able to secure a 25.1%. But Anni should understand that if he remained as who he was three to four years back, Golhaa would have been history by now! Several of your supporters lost faith in you when you announced your candidacy. People accept you more as an activist than a president or a presidential candidate.

Dr.Hassan, I’m so happy that you did not win and I’m glad to know that you don’t have a second chance in this round. Of course you did certain things for the betterment of this country, yet you still have blood on your hands! You are one person who worked against democracy as well. And while you had the chance to help the citizens and to apologize for your dirty deeds, you chose to be selfish and you chose to discredit the hard work of several people in bringing a pure democracy to this country.

Ibra, you should be ashamed of your self! You been this person who always remained constant and who always hold on to your words, and you been the MP for male’; you should ashamed over and over again that you were able to secure only 0.8% of the votes! Maybe you did not know, but you did play a major role in dividing the opposition and creating doubts in the hearts of people about the very sincere people who wanted to change this country for the better. You should have known that what people needed was not a person who remains himself, but a person capable of bringing a change and a person who speaks the language of the people! Not a person who speaks jargon that they don’t understand! You kept on repeating “gaanoonuge verikan”, and yet I doubt that even if you know what you meant by that!

And Umar! I hope you are happy now! You competed for no other reason but to be famous! That is how I see it. You have always been a one man show, and a bully to the reform process.

Still there is time to correct the mistakes. This is the final chance for all of you to be on the same page. This is the moment that you all need to realize what the people want, and I guess that is unity! Unite against the dictator, unit to bring a pure democracy to this country, and unite for the betterment of this country. Keep aside your differences, and remember that Golhaa will try to buy you all by any possible means, and when he approaches remember the poor people of this country! Remember the people who have been begging you all for a change, remember the past thirty years, remember us…

The people of Maldives, brothers and sisters; we should be proud today for that Golhaa was not able to win in the first round. And we should remember not to let him even get a 40% in the next round of voting! Let the spirit and courage live, let’s vote for a change, let’s oust the dictator, and let’s experience the beauty and sweetness of a pure democracy! NO TO GOLHAA! Let it be the final verdict.

thadu, i wonder why you didn’t talk about Qasim in this article. you’ve mentioned something about Dr.Hassan “having blood on his hands”. One could argue that Qasim himself has been an ass-licker. Intially from MDP, to jail, to DRP (not to mention the favours he’d gotten from golhaa) and now to his own party.
In the end is there such a thing as an honest politician? guess not… ;)

interesting article though. i love reading all your posts. tc :)

    hey thadhu
i dont want maumoon abdul gayyoom winning this election as much as an other maldivian who loves their children, family and friends. but sad tat there are so many people who hate anni and i fear they might vote maumoon or not vote at all. this will give chances to maumoon to win the election
