Today, brothers and sisters, is the day we have been waiting for so long. It has been years we have been waiting for this day, desperately, to change our fate. We often hear that the state of a country does not change unless and until its people want to change it. We haven been waiting to change our situation for very long. Today what we need to remember is our primary goal. That is to oust the dictator Golhaa (Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom) from power. Today we, all the citizens of Maldives, need to unite against the dictator. We need to keep in our mind, how ill and unfair the dictator treated us. No matter who we vote today, we must ensure that it is not Golhaa that we vote.
To all the candidates
If you guys were united till this moment we would not have the slightest fear today that Golhaa would win. But now we have in our hearts fear that Golhaa might still rig and win. But now is too late to talk about this, yet today keep aside the differences between you people and unite to oust Golhaa from power. If we still remember those days, the days in which we were all united protesting and calling for rights, we would realize that we had a far important desire then becoming the next president. That is to get rid of Golhaa. On this very important day let it still be our primary goal so that we can shape our future for the better!
My candidate (Writings from the past)
Why vote Qasim? It is a time in which every body is questioning themselves, ‘who should I vote, and what would be the consequences of my decision?’ There are ‘several’ candidates who will do anything they could do to win our vote during the upcoming election. Gayyom, Anni, Ibra and some others are already campaigning promising to make our dreams come true. Out of these candidates, in my point of view, Qasim (Buruma Qasim) is the only candidate who could actually make our future brighter.
It is a well known fact that Qasim has spent his life helping people in many a ways. How many students have been able to pursue their dreams because of Qasim, who other wise would, perhaps, end up as uneducated people? How many people are living a healthier life, because Qasim helped them to seek medical treatments? How many businesses have reached great levels or have been saved from bankruptcy because Qasim had lent a helping hand to them. Yes, Qasim is a philanthropist, a generous contributor to individuals and to the nation.
And so, why would we not want to vote him? Qasim is a man who has what he needs. Some suspect that he is competing for the top job, to become richer and wealthier. But could it be true? I would say that it simply is an insane accusation. Why? : Because if he wants to earn more, surely he could earn easier if he is not a president, but just a businessmen. And there is no doubt that the only intention he has, in competing in the next presidential election, is to serve the citizens of the Maldives, and to make Maldives a better place. Vote Qasim!
Knowledge by experience: Those who speak against Qasim often try to convince others that Qasim is uneducated and therefore not a good presidential candidate. But is it a truth? In my opinion little do these people know what education is. Is education having a bachelors or masters degree or a PhD? It simply is insane to see education as having numerous certificates and high grades at school.
Education could be explained as “the gradual process of acquiring knowledge”. Qasim is a man who has acquired knowledge by experience: and prove to me what other education is better then the education garnered through experience! I personally know people who hold degrees in computer science, yet they do not know how to code a simple program. So what is mightier? Knowledge through experience or …
You, I and everybody else knows that Qasim is a well educated person. He has the brains required to select the most appropriate people to posts. He has the brain to understand the status, feelings and conditions of the Maldivians, because he has been a philanthropist most of his life. Is that not what we want at the moment? A person who know us well! A person who cares for us! A person who could …
Cast your vote to Qasim, and you surely would witness a future that is bright and full of opportunities.
When I first heard Qasim will be competing in the presidential race: Qasim Ibrahim aka ‘Burumaa Qasim’ is one of the richest figures in the country who is also a respected philanthropist. He could perhaps be explained as a person who has build his own empire from scratch and he did not use all his wealth for himself, but chose to share it with those in need. Qasim has and is still helping a high percentage of students to study and pursue their dreams by providing them with study loans and scholarships. Also Qasim is well known for helping people who can’t afford medical treatments.
The news that Qasim might be competing in the next presidential election brought happiness to many Maldivians. A man who has garnered the love of many people; and so who would not be happy to make him the leader of the country!
Though, some might say that he does not have the ‘material’ to be a president. What do these people mean by ‘material’ I do not know, but in my point of view, Qasim has what it takes to be a president of Maldives. The current situation of Maldives, where we are experiencing a major downfall in the economy, Qasim seems to be the ideal person to lead the country.
It is not a ‘political figure’ that we need now, but a political plus a business minded person who could tackle the current economical crisis that we are facing currently, of course with the help of…all the citizens!

Thanks Hon.Qasim for the hard works
I believe Qasim Ibrahim has played a key role in bringing democratic reforms to the Maldives. His continued support to the cause and his ability to oversee the Constitutional Assembly is one of the main reasons why we are able to hold this multiparty presidential election for the first time in our history, giving us the opportunity to bring Dictator Gayyoom’s brutal rule to an end. Gasim is an honest man, a man who has been there for Maldivian people throughout the years. A simple man of the people as well as a visionary leader, Qasim Ibrahim can bring the changes we need to make our country prosper. Please vote for Qasim to achieve your aspirations.
