The mighty bridge will save you!
Are you and your family living in hunger? Don’t have a good enough shelter? Are you weeping that your children are under the influence of drugs? Worried about your health? Need better education? Need a better income? Don’t worry! The bridge will save you from any and every misery that you have!
It was hilarious, wasn’t it? To hear Gayyom ‘cry’ mentioning that he would construct a bridge between Male’ and Hulhumale’! It might be a wonderful idea, it might be a dream come true for many people. But at the present, and even within the next five years, is it a worth project to build a bridge connecting Male’ and Hulhumale’? In my understanding it would be much better to develop islands/islanders rather then building a bridge worth millions! What possible good could a bridge bring to the Maldives as a whole?
According to Gayyom the bridge will be the potent and ultimate solution for everything! Drugs, over crowding, housing, and you name it, the bridge would solve! It is as if building the bridge would somehow or perhaps miraculously make Maldives a better place! Just because some candidates promised they would build thousand flats per year, and because some candidates promised to close the gateways for drugs, Gayyom had to come up with an idea that sounded better in every way! And the thought of the bridge suddenly hit his mind? But when it came to what possible benefits the bridge could bring to Maldivians, there was none and so he mentioned everything that came to his mind at the moment? Because there is no actual benefit the bridge could bring considered the current situation of Maldives.
