Why vote Qasim?

August 22nd, 2008 § 13 comments

It is a time in which every body is questioning themselves, ‘who should I vote, and what would be the consequences of my decision?’ There are ‘several’ candidates who will do anything they could do to win our vote during the upcoming election. Gayyom, Anni, Ibra and some others are already campaigning promising to make our dreams come true. Out of these candidates, in my point of view, Qasim (Buruma Qasim) is the only candidate who could actually make our future brighter.

It is a well known fact that Qasim has spent his life helping people in many a ways. How many students have been able to pursue their dreams because of Qasim, who other wise would, perhaps, end up as uneducated people? How many people are living a healthier life, because Qasim helped them to seek medical treatments? How many businesses have reached great levels or have been saved from bankruptcy because Qasim had lent a helping hand to them. Yes, Qasim is a philanthropist, a generous contributor to individuals and to the nation.

And so, why would we not want to vote him? Qasim is a man who has what he needs. Some suspect that he is competing for the top job, to become richer and wealthier. But could it be true? I would say that it simply is an insane accusation. Why? : Because if he wants to earn more, surely he could earn easier if he is not a president, but just a businessmen. And there is no doubt that the only intention he has, in competing in the next presidential election, is to serve the citizens of the Maldives, and to make Maldives a better place. Vote Qasim!

You should study about the hierarchy of needs. when he becomes a successful businessman his next need is to become a powerful politician. i will never ever vote for Buruma Gasim. think of all resorts he got for himself while he was finance minister. think of all business deals he gave to AMIN construction. think how he badly managed our economy.

C’mon guys this fellow cant read even.. even by looking at the speech/paper. How can he be a prez. =_=

  • qadir says:

bala Qasim e bunee nu hiley ge dheyne vaahakayaa kantha. aharun vote hama Qasim ah. evareh nei

  • goal says:

    ey some1
how do you think he manages his businesses and the college, he might not know english, but he knows how to communicate with people around the world

  • JINAN says:

Dude you got it all wrong… from what I heard its a mandatory thing that whoever takes loan from World Bank has to spend a certain percentage on the social needs under the agreement which he is bind to do.

Other than that – the KIMS to where he is funding people to go is another business run by him in association with that hospital and its another business propaganda which you can clearly see when you over there.

If income tax is introduced to Maldives, all the rich man would send there kids aboard and use money this or that way in order not pay it back to the govt but to make a profit for themselves. He is a businessman – what do u xpect him to do? his mind is full of business. I would surely not go by him or his ways…

Infact he is the reason why many upcoming business people have been demolarzied because when ever someone start something new – he gets into that and starts a large scale thereby leaving the new comer stranded…..

    JUST THINK …….

I personally thank Gasim for whatever favour he has done to fellow Maldivians. He spends on education, health, community development and many more. He says he does all these favours in the cause of God. So, his reward for this is with God. We cant and we shall not try to reward him with presidency. If he becomes the president, that will only drive him away from helping people. Moreover, “right to vote” is not a gift, it is a responsibility. We shall not convert it into things or exchange it for favours we get. In return we can give something else, not our responsibility we owe to the country and generations to come. Nothing worth the rights I got for being an individual born to this country. Nothing!

Hey Jinah, goal & other guys, If Qasim cannot become the president, what I believe is, he wont be able to exist like this, helping or doing what ever business he does. Who ever comes into power will bring an end to other big businesses. This is Maldives and we are Maldivians. No one will let anyone stand before another. That is the bitter side of our life’s. What I know is, he has shown courage and faith towards development of this country. Just think…. when he is having so much of money, why shouldn’t he establish his business in other countries like Maumoon, Yameen and his companions. Why Qasim is so much devoted to invest in here? educate us? provide health for our parents, sisters and brothers? coz he loves this nation. What I believe is, you don’t have to have a PHD to be a leader. Education is something like a topping to your favorite ice-cream.
Do you know that, all the donations and funds provided to public is via Villa foundation? Do you know that, all money to Villa foundation account is all of the net profit made by SUN ISLAND. (Sun Island is one of the largest resort Island which has over 1000 beds.) Just think! Is there any other Maldivian who will do a thing like this, who will spend a single penny for someone who he dose not know? Just think!
To my best knowledge, only one that can bring a tremendous change will be Mr.Qasim. But its up to you guys to vote him. What I know is we can no longer tolerate Maumoon’s presidency. So we have to decide and vote to make a change. Think again…!

  • Change says:

    hey goal.
Income tax is something taken on the total income you earn not based on the expenses. you cant escape with showing the expenses or sending kids abroad. I have experienced it in UK. It is actually the best way to increase government revenue. Government wont take the import duty, so product price wud not increase rapidly. If income tax is introduce, whether you earn 100 or one million, you pay proportionately. -cheers-
