MDP join Gasim, would it be wise decision?

In July newspapers made headlines “Clinton will quit and back Obama”. Whatever the reasons behind this might be, it is a wise decision made by Mrs Clinton to leave her desires aside and support the person who might be able to bring the most beneficial changes to the United States of America. Addressing to her delegates she has urged them to support Mr Obama. “We are united behind Barack Obama and Joe Biden and we’re going to make sure that we win on November 4, so let’s have a great election,” she said.

I congratulate Adhaalath Party and Maldivian National Congress (MNC) for announcing their support to the Republican/Jumhooree Party. And I believe that they did so, to ensure that the current government does not stand a chance to win the election and also because they believe that Jumhooree party is the only chance to achieve this goal. Now the question that arises is what Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) will do in order to achieve the same goal. MDP is of course the ‘first political party’ that was established, and we all believe that it is the hard work of MDP that brought several positive changes to the Maldives.

However, the divisions in MDP create doubts weather they will be able to win the upcoming election, particularly now that Adhaalath, one of the strongest parties, is backing Jumhooree Party. In my point of view there are several reasons for the divisions in MDP. Some reasons might be:

  • The promises that MDP failed to deliver during time to time.
  • The accusations that Anni controls the party in a ‘dictator-like’ manner.
  • The unstable leadership of MDP.

And the question now is would it be a wise idea for the MDP to join hands with the Jumhooree Party in order to achieve the one goal that almost every Maldivian wishes for, to not give another chance to the current government!

one small question, why are YOU supporting Gasim the Buruma. Honestly speaking have you ever been benefited from Gasim?
and about Adhaalath backing Gasim, thats the stupidest thing they have ever done. but what other choice they have besides getting crumbled by the his fist!

  • Mode,
Me, as an individual never benefited from Qasim. But lot of people that i know, who got nothing from the government or welfare fund, were helped in several ways by Qasim

And regarding Adhaalath, in my point of view, them joining Qasim is the best decision they ever took, or may be it is the second best thing they did. The first might be, accepting that they dont have a good enough presidential candidate to run in the race!
    :)

  • hi

good idea. MDP shud join JP

  • change

    guys,
What I think and what I believe is, its better MDP stays as they are, at this stage it will be a critical decision. Our target must be to bring down Maumoons regime. Everyone thinking won’t be the same, and there will be quite number of MDP members who dislike JP or Mr.Gasim, if MDP joins JP, there will be some members who might switch from MDP to other parties. That means some will go with MDP and some might resign and go with DRP also. You guys might not believe it. But as we are human beings, we change with every little action.
What I believe is, if MDP stay’s as it is, it would be easy and would be an advantage to split the votes to different candidates and reduce the amount of votes to Maumoon. -cheers-
