The current situation at Male’ as well as many other islands of Maldives is unacceptably out of hand. Mobsters are ruling the streets and the Government is unable to take appropriate action against such crooks. The number of thefts, rapes, gang fights, and such other criminal acts are increasing daily. The citizens of the nation are in constant fear asking themselves, when they will be robbed, or when someone will out of nowhere come and slice them into pieces for no reason. And the entire Government do is blabber about it, taking no action. The police say, ‘citizens, please be careful’. Do we, the citizens, have to stay home 24/7 without going to offices to guard the house? Because if we go, the damn mobsters come and filch our stuff! And is it the result of us been careless? Or is it the result of the Government been unable to take appropriate measures against such criminals?
