Although the officials have not yet revealed the reason behind the recent terrorist attack at Male’, it is obvious that it is somehow related to the so called extremists living at Maldives. It is a shameful act of the government, especially president Gayyom, to point fingers at the political party MDP and the UK based group, Friends of Maldives. In fact it is the government that might have to take responsibility for not acting concisely based on the growing ‘problematic-era’ of Maldives. Since a long time back, extremists have been strengthening their grip on the Maldives. Aiming at the younger generation they have created groups and sectors. They have even been fighting within themselves pointing each other as infidels! While the situation has gone this far, how come the government ignored the inevitable threats?
The true Maldives is now clearly visible. It isn’t a paradise. It is occupied by drug addicts, extremists, looters, rapists and so on. And this certainly is the result of the government been lackadaisical. The current government has been ruling for twenty-nine years for Gods sake! And if it does still not know its citizens, their conditions, their thinking, what the hack is it doing? As a humble citizen, I call upon the government to make things better! I doubt that would happen, would it? But still, when could we start walking on the roads with peace and harmony? I as a single citizen condemn the barbaric act of ‘bombing’ at the Sultan Park. But it is the government who could take action against those who carried out the cowardly task; it is the government who could make sure such acts will not repeat! And will the government act responsible at least this one time?
